PARENT REVIEWS
More Reviews. . . .
"The tone of the CPSE meeting for my child changed when I hired Anne. Anne held the CPSE accountable to use the data to create a program for my child instead of what the chairperson 'felt in her gut'." Kristin P
"Thanks to Anne's keen review of our child's evaluation scores, Anne insisted upon a IEE. The psychologist who conducted the neuropsychological was outstanding. Anne has great resources and professionals she works with." Diana S.
"Ms. Cunningham kept requesting for my child's CSE meeting to reconvene until the chairperson made the appropriate changes to the IEP to reflect what our genuine Parent Input was." Marco, Somers
ABOUT
ANNE CUNNINGHAM
I have been working with students identified with special needs since I was fifteen years old. While volunteering in a class of special needs high school students, I knew working with and advocating for students with special needs was the career I wanted to pursue.
Since those days long ago, I have earned my Special Education Educator certification and School Building Leader certification. My resume reflects my professional experience as a co-teacher (ICT) alongside my fellow educators. I have supported and educated students as a resource room teacher (SETSS), and have had the joy of working with the littlest children as a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT). I have been a Parent Trainer, guiding parents through the trials and tribulations of parenting. My experience as the Special Education Coordinator in a NYC charter school broadened my skills working with Committees on Special Education.
I have successfully assisted parents in New York City, Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess Counties in New York State, as well as Connecticut State and across the United States. I assist parents in relocating from one state to New York.
My ten years of experience has allowed me to identify how the different school districts operate and what they value. My well developed ability to read and interpret data, scores, and record review allows me to identify what a student needs to address their academic, social, or emotional needs.
It is an honor and a privilege to be trusted by parents when their child's academic, social or emotional needs are not being addressed. Standing shoulder to shoulder with parents to work relentlessly to collaborate and partner with the Committee on Special Education, it is an honor to be trusted with their child's education and future. I am always honored. I understand the Mission.
On a Personal Note
I have sat on both sides of the Committee on Special Education table as a parent and an educator. I understand the frustrations of a parent who feels their child's educational needs are not being met, or a district is not adhering to an IEP. Just as infuriating, as a teacher, I have attended IEP/CSE meetings for my students and had to remain silent as my supervisor made promises I knew the school could not deliver.
I understand an excellent quality of life for a student begins when they are young. Independence and self-esteem are necessary to have the confidence to go forth in the world. Just as I have wanted for my children, I understand every parent wants their child to have access to a solid education that leads to a good quality of life that includes employment, independence, and friends.
As a mother of three children, I understand the urgency and desire to ensure your child receives the best education possible. I am excited at the prospect of working with you to make sure your child receives the best education possible.
